Types of Endoscopy Procedures

Endoscopy is a procedure that uses specialized tools to view and operate on the internal organs and vessels of your body. This allows surgeons to view problems with your body without having to make large incisions. Using an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, the doctor can view pictures of organs.

Common Endoscopic Procedures

Colonoscopy lets your doctor examine the lining of your large intestine (colon) for abnormalities. Some of the objective of colonoscopy is to check for polyps or colon cancer, check the cause of rectal bleeding, check the cause of changes in bowel habits, check the cause of iron deficiency anemia, and to provide a more thorough examination after an x-ray.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) allows your doctor to examine the esophageal and stomach linings as well as the walls of the upper gastrointestinal tract. EUS is also used to study organs near the gastrointestinal tract including the lungs, liver gallbladder and pancreas. EUS is performed for both diagnostic and therapeutic treatment purposes. It also provides an opportunity for a biopsy of any lumps and lesions as means to deliver treatments to the esophageal and stomach lining.

Upper Endoscopy (EGD) is a procedure that allows your physician to examine the lining of the upper part of your gastrointestinal tract, including esophagus, stomach and the beginning part of your small intestines. Reasons for EGD are for unexplained, persistent abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or difficulty swallowing, removal of a foreign body, and biopsy.

Aside from this, endoscopy is the best means of early detection for several forms of cancer. For more information about endoscopy equipment, visit UsedStryker.com.

  1. Ya its right... Many endoscopic procedures are there, which predict any infection or used in surgery in internal organs like blood vessels, intestine and so on.
Many types of endoscopic cameras(wired and wireless) are there in today. Used Stryker 1288 HD Camera is the new development in the endoscopic cameras where it allows the user to use it with wireless capabilities in the operating rooms. These cameras have four fully programmable buttons on their head which help in giving and receiving the command from the surgeon. Also, they have more improved resolution with the light source.
